In the Spotlight Congratulations! Maggie Cunningham Sonoma County Classified School Employee of the Year for Support Services and Security! Pancakes N’ All That Jazz Sunday, March 14 8 AM – 1 PM Sonoma Veterans Building SVHS Music Department Fundraiser Pancake Breakfast & Silent Auction Live Music! All proceeds will help fund the choir & band trip to New York in April to compete in the Heritage Music Festival. Tickets $10 sold in the Music Room *This event is for Ron Perkins’ Senior Project SVHS Tour! Wednesday, March 17th 3:30 – 5:00 P.M. Vice Principals Glenn Moll and Paul Tuohy will be conducting a campus tour of our state of the art facilities that two community school bonds provided over the past eleven years. Teachers from many of our award winning career programs will be available to present features from their programs for parents and students attending the tour. Additionally, teachers will present overviews of our eleven AP programs, and discussions regarding different academic approaches in each of our core English, Math, and Science subjects. At the conclusion of the ninety minute tour, students and their parents will have gained a much greater understanding of our challenging academics as well as the wide variety of elective and career opportunities available for students at Sonoma Valley High School. Please call JoAnn Merrit at 933-4030 to sign up. Students are welcome. SRJC English Placement Test Tuesday, March 23, 2010 Thursday, March 25, 2010 SVHS Pavilion at 3:00 P.M. Sign-up in the Counseling Department SRJC Math Placement Test (canceled) Santa Rosa Junior College has changed the format for delivering the math placement test. The math placement test will a computerized test which will be available at the Petaluma and Santa Rosa campus. Further information will be announced. SVHS Prom May 1, 2010 - please note new date! North Bay College Fair at Sonoma State University Tuesday, May 4th 5:30-8:30 PM ONLY Sonoma Valley High School Principal Search As you are probably aware we are in the process of searching for a new Sonoma Valley High School Principal due to the June 2010 retirement of Micaela Philpot. We are scheduling a number of meetings with a variety of constituents to obtain suggestions regarding the desired qualities, experience, and characteristics that the new high school principal should possess. Leadership Profile Assessment forms are available here in English and Spanish for those who are unable to attend the various meetings. They are also available at the SVHS and District Offices. Forms should be faxed to Hazard, Young, Attea & Associates, the firm that is assisting with the search, 847-724-8467 – or returned to the High School or District Office by Friday, January 8, 2010.
